This is the story of forty-two year old Tracy Mahon, a single mother, and her two girls, Emily and Annie. There's fun and joy, but in the background evil waits. When Tracy injures herself in a fall, little does she know her life she thought was on an even keel, will change. She and her girls always managed insulated within themselves. Now, Tracy needs help. She discovers strengths she never knew she possessed. As she heals, life begins to shift within the family. After a bitter affair, Tracy is falling in love with the man who rescued her when she fell. It's a bittersweet relationship as their love is held hostage by the future.

Tracy's business, CREATIVE HOME CONSULTING, is a success. She and her partner, Charity, are developing plans to decorate a hotel in Amsterdam. Emily is planning to graduate from Eastern University and Annie is studying law at the University of Washington. All is right with their worlds. Suddenly with no warning Tracy finds herself being harassed. She and Mike, who are deeply in love, part. Emily arrives home with devastating news and Annie manages to shock her mother. Once again dark shadows hover. Tracy believes since the death of Ruth and Knuckles' adopted baby their lives will return to normal. Not so. We follow the women, as each of them realize their strengths come from faith in one another and ultimately in themselves. Tracy and Mike realize their love is a gift from the vision of an artist. Did it arrive too soon or too late?

It’s 1943 and WW II is a part of everyday life. Beautiful Amy Mary O’Brien Garret’s marriage to Wally is eight years old. He buys a farm, dumps her and their two girls, Sissy and Beth, and goes off to join the Seabees where he’s stationed in the Aleutian Islands.

Old Doc Weeks, the previous owner, helps Amy and teaches her how to use a shotgun and milk a cow.

Amy is desperate for money to meet the monthly payments on the farm and support her family. She discovers a secret room off the master room closet. She finds rationed goods and decides to sell them on the black market.

Aunt Magdalene manages the Jupiter Junction railroad hotel. It’s during a train derailment that Amy meets good looking U.S. Army Lieutenant Rob Weeks. He falls in love with her, but she resists. Or does she?

A young teacher is murdered and soon Amy is being threatened. Is her farm alive with promises of a new life, or is it the menace of an unseen force? Still, she manages to protect her children from danger until one fateful day.
